Marie Hurdalkova
Thirteen years old Marie Hurdálková is currently involved in the Step by Step (SbS) program at her school, in Czech Republic. There she has some classes that are engaged in the program, but also others that are not. Marie has been part of the program since her third grade.
“I like the program because we study lots of topics and we play and learn at the same time. In my class, we are 20 children, but we split in groups when we study these subjects” says Marie.
Within the program, Marie is learning Czech and English languages, mathematics, biology and art. She says she likes biology and Czech the most. Outside of school, Marie also trains triathlon and takes extra art lessons.
“Children in our class are very friendly” -she says- “I think that the other groups do not have such close friendships. Sometimes we have some extra activities connected to different holidays. For example, when Christmas arrives, we arrange our activities in a way that we also learn more about this holiday.”
When she finishes her education, Marie wants to become a teacher. She likes to observe her teachers’ work now, and enjoys seeing what they do. “Every morning my classmates and my teachers we all sit in a circle and talk about how our previous day has been and other important issues for us” - Marie explains- “I like this ritual, it gives me a good feeling.”
