Early childhood education and care (ECEC) services for children under six years of age play a fundamental role in laying strong foundations for lifelong learning and wellbeing, especially in the first three years of life. Quality ECEC services can make an extraordinary difference in children’s lives, especially for the most disadvantaged. Research indicates that children from vulnerable groups derive even greater benefit from high-quality ECEC than their peers from more advantaged families. Our Recommendations:

Based in Hungary, NestingPlay is a social enterprise that focuses on empowering adults to support children with developmental delays through play. By encouraging caregivers and teachers to be more conscious about delays and supporting them with play-based interventions, NestingPlay aims to bring positive attention to children with invisible disabilities and include them in play the same way as their typically developing peers.

In this project (2016-2019) the consortium made an inventory of the existing services, activities and programmes for young children from refugee and asylum-seeking families in the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway and the United Kingdom.
