ISSA new Member Kali Sara – Roma Information Center from Bosnia and Herzegovina is advocating for the socio–economic inclusion and empowerment of Roma people, conducting research and raising awareness about the challenges faced by Roma population. Besides, the organization is providing information and resources about Roma history, culture, language and rights and offering educational programs and workshops for institution and Roma community.

During the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, reopening has been very challenging for Italian early childhood education and care centers. Some practices and spaces had to be modified to comply with  COVID regulations, including limiting the presence of families inside the centers . Before the pandemic, families could enter the classrooms, stay with children and talk with teachers as long as they wanted. Currently, with the pandemic restrictions in place, families are not allowed to enter the classroom and they have to stop at the door.

EDUCAS project was presented to a broad international audience during the ISSA Connects Week in December 2020. The session gained the attention of 87 people from around the world. Participants included a wide range of professionals such as teachers, head of trainings, program directors or global leads on early childhood education, and either from local, national or international organisations.
Issa Practices
The Growing Together project consisted of three parts: improving preschool education practices by using the ISSA Principles of Quality Pedagogy and parent and community involvement; building community and  partnerships at the primary school level, and parental education. The project's results were disseminated through Ministry of Education and other agencies.

Nedim Krajišnik is Program Coordinator at ISSA’s member in Bosnia and Herzegovona, Center for Educational Initiatives Step by Step (SbS). He is also a senior researcher specialized in Peace Education. For the past year, his organization has been offering an innovative training to more than 7,000 early childhood development (ECD) practitioners all over the country.

This toolkit represents the compilation of different programs and specific activities developed by ISSA and its members over the past 15 years. The backbone of the toolkit is ISSA’s core document Competent Educators of the 21st century: Princi­ples of Quality Pedagogy which focuses on process, quality and educators as agents of change and their power and ability (with more or less support) to enrich the lives of children, families and communities and thus of society in general.

Embracing Diversity Training program for adults promotes the values of anti-discrimination, anti-bias, equity and respect for diversity in different settings: in communities, at the workplace, and in society. Embracing Diversity guides participants through a process of personal transformation, which helps them to become agents of change towards inclusive and social cohesive societies.
