Mission
The City of Ghent Childcare Center provides day care for more than 6500 children in 74 facilities across the city and collaborates actively with all initiatives involved in early child development on a regional, national and international level.
The City offers daycare for 0 to 3 year olds, an extensive out-of-school care programme supporting kindergarten (2,5 -6 years) and a holiday care service for school children from 3 up to 12 years.
We aim to build and work in a competent system. More than 600 professionally trained caregivers and coordinators and a team of pedagogical experts ensure innovative and visionary quality care. Focus is on total development and wellbeing of the children, participation of children, parents and communities, equal access and engaging vulnerable and disadvantaged families. Our main aim is to offer children equal chances to develop, feel good, participate and relate with people and society, while respecting diversity.
Through this approach, the City of Ghent strives to build a community of responsible citizens who can develop themselves freely and count on the necessary support.
