Mission

Hestia is an authority in the field of bilingual day care. All the locations are bilingual, with (near) native Dutch- and English-speaking teachers in the groups, enabling children to leam both languages. Many of our clients are expat families from all over the world. Our first bilingual location opened in 2010, the second in 2011. We have worked with universities studying the effect of multilingualism in children and as of February 2018 were part of participating in a pilot regarding bilingual child care, hosted by the Dutch
Government. Since 2003 we have been offering full day and after school care to children aged 0-13. Hestia has locations in Amsterdam and Amstelveen that all use the Reggio Emilia philosophy. The buildings have
light, open group spaces, an art studio and large outdoor spaces for the children to play and explore. We cook a hot meal daily, for and with the ch ildren. Apart from activities at the locations, the children regularly visit museums and parks in the city and neighbourhood. Art, culture and nature are core items in our approach and we celebrate diversity. Hestia is B Corp certified as of December 2023. Hestia is a social entrepreneur that aims to make an impact on the lives of children and families and contribute to a better world.
