How we present ideas about early childhood shapes how people think, feel and act — and effective communication requires more than simply getting the facts right.
Earlier this year, the ECOS Thought Leadership event Breaking Through: What Will It Take to Put Early Childhood at the Center? opened a broader conversation about what is needed to build greater political and societal attention to early childhood.
Communicating for Change continues that conversation by focusing on the role of communication in making change possible.
In this special pre-conference workshop, Nat Kendall-Taylor, CEO of FrameWorks Institute, will explore how framing and cultural mindsets influence the way people understand early childhood issues and the solutions they are willing to support.
Drawing on research and practical experience, Nat will examine how we can build narratives that expand people’s sense of what is possible and strengthen support for actions that better support young children, their families and communities.
He will also share three practical principles for communicating in today’s challenging environment.
The workshop forms part of the learning journey towards ISSA Conference 2026. In Lisbon, Moira O’Neil, Senior Vice President of Programs at FrameWorks Institute, will help frame and connect key insights emerging from across the conference.
In this way, the journey moves from asking what it takes to put early childhood at the center, to considering how we communicate effectively for change, and ultimately to the collective learning and action emerging from the ISSA Conference.
The workshop is open to everyone, whether or not you are attending ISSA Conference 2026.
