INVAC Tools Advance Equity and Professionalisation for Roma Paraprofessionals
Roma paraprofessionals—working as assistants, mediators, and community liaisons—play a crucial role in supporting Roma children’s access to equitable early childhood education and care. Yet, they often face limited access to structured training and recognition.
To address this gap, the INVAC project has launched two new resources now available on the REYN Knowledge Hub:
-
INVAC Guidelines: A strategic framework to support the training, development, and professionalisation of Roma paraprofessionals, complete with a competency model, adaptable training paths, and institutional recommendations.
-
Self-Assessment Tool: An interactive resource enabling individuals to assess their competencies, plan continuous professional development, and document learning for recognition and career advancement.
These tools respond to growing calls—within the EU Roma Strategic Framework and national policies—for a diverse and competent ECEC workforce. Developed by ISSA Members' Open Academy Step by Step and Wide Open School with REYN, the resources aim to empower Roma professionals and strengthen inclusive education systems across Europe.
